A Year in My Skin
Skin Before and After Pictures
Here is a before and after picture of me spaced 1 year apart. I’ve taken my make-up off and just away to bed. No fancy set up here, not in my treatment room or anything just me going about my normal bedtime routine.
My Own Skincare Journey
I may be a skincare specialist and give advice to my client’s but I am also going through my own skincare journey just like many of you who come to see me. I’m only human and our skin works in weird and wonderful ways, hell I get spots, many of my clients are quite surprised now when I say I have acne prone skin. Trust me I know how it feels!
Regular Facials and Homecare
Getting results takes time and a bit of commitment but it will come! Regular facials and proper homecare will hugely benefit your skin over time.
When thinking about breakouts, it’s best to think of my treatments as helping you with breakouts once they happen and to get the skin into better condition to reduce the severity of future breakouts.
Acne, Spots and Breakouts
Acne, spots breakouts whatever you want to call it is a very complex condition, I can never beat what is going on internally, sometimes until you get to the root cause of what is happening internally you will keep getting breakouts (girls I’m talking hormones here, sometimes a chat with your GP about your current contraceptive or a short course of antibiotics is good place to start and as mentioned above I can help condition your skin).
Skin Analysis; Effects of Hormones and Stress
What’s gone on this year with my skin?
Okay I know I’m no oil painting guys but in the after picture I am looking a bit sprightlier, yet I have aged a full year in that time (for anyone who is wondering how old I am, I’m 34).
Let’s start with my chin area, this was quite an extreme breakout linked to my hormones and this was also the day before my micro-needling course which I was travelling down to Bolton to attend. I was a bit more stressed than normal, during stressful times my skin tends to flare up (joys of having acne prone skin).
Throughout the year I’ve had a change in contraceptive combined with clearing my pores with DermaPeel treatments and sessions under my LED light box have hugely helped my chin breakouts. I’m not saying I never get spots now, as you can see there is a wee red spot on my chin just now but nothing compared to the painful angry breakouts I was having last year.
Reduction of Eye Puffiness & Tightening and Lifting
My under-eye puffiness has reduced in addition to a tightening of my upper eye lid area. I have very heavy looking eyes in my before picture, I look a lot less weary in my after picture yet my eyes are not opened any wider. Regular Micro-needling treatments with a mix of Genosys problem control solution (for my acne prone skin) and anti-ageing serum have increased skin elasticity giving a tightening and lifting around my eyes.
What is best for someone, might not be best for you!
So these treatments have been helping me along with my skin care journey. I don’t have a one suits all approach to treatment. What works for me might not work for you. Our skin changes as we age, products and treatments that were suited to you in the past might need adapting to how your skin is evolving now. However making small changes over time can soon add up to a big difference in the appearance of your skin.
